The "Vocabulary of Cooperative Terms" grew out of a widely felt need in both national and International organisations dealing with cooperatives. The languages in this work are the first or second languages of many millions of cooperators, and the aim of the publication is to facilitate communication between them. The purpose of this Vocabulary is to facilitate communication on the international level between those interested in the practice and study of Cooperation. It provides a list in five languages of terms in fairly constant use in the description and discussion of Cooperative theory, history, business organisation, democratic administration, education, legislation and social activities. The languages - English, French, German, Spanish and Russian - have been chosen because they are at once native languages of tens of millions of Cooperators and extensively used by many others as second languages. In particular, it is hoped that the Vocabulary will enable those who would not Boast a profound knowledge of a second or third language to benefit effectively from the exchange of periodicals and other publications which goes on between Cooperative organisations in different countries all over the world today, as well as to carry on useful conversations with Cooperators from other lands and other branches of the movement than their own.en_US
