Cooperative Movement has been largely initiated by Government. After the achievement of political independence, in the development plans launched, these countries have adopted a deliberate policy of encouraging the organisation of-cooperatives in different fields of social and economic activity and implement the plan projects wherever possible, through cooperative agencies. The cooperatives are also being given* increasing technical and financial assistance by the government so that they could discharge the duties expected o f than in an efficien t way. The State, therefore, has been taking an active interest in the promotion and development of cooperatives and in many cases, the State is closely associated with the working of cooperative institutions.en_US
