Abstract: The ICA Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific and the IDACA, in the past, have been carrying out evaluation exercises of the ICA-Japan Agricoops Management Training Project for Asia through correspondence, field contacts and national follow-up and review workshops. The project i)Participants of 12 courses (participated by 13 countries) have produced 177 project proposals as a part of their training. Several of these proposals have been implemented in various countries. It was found that a lot depended on the organisational support to implement such project proposals. This second Conference was organised during April 13-17 1998. Representatives from India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan and Sri Lanka attended the Conference. The Conference objectives were as follows: i. To review the project proposals developed by the ICA-Japan training courses from the participating countries with a view to identify common problems and their possible solutions; ii. To discuss strategies for the development of agricultural cooperatives and adopt a common development policy; iii. To exchange views with the Japanese governmental development agencies, JA-Zenchu, IDAO\ and the ICA as to the relevance and continuation of such assistance.
